24 hours...

I was thinking this afternoon, "Wow! So much can happen in 24 hours!" Yesterday at 3:30 I was coming home to make dinner, unpack, lalala and then go to a little choir practice. I had thought about working on my resume, but didn't get time. I finished it at night and submitted it about midnight. I woke up to an email this morning saying the woman would call me to set up an interview. At 9:00 she called, at 3:00 I met her and got the job THAT STARTS TOMORROW.

It is a part-time (more like 3/4 time) cleaning job. I had originally not wanted to do cleaning, but I saw the opening in our village and decided, 'why not try.' My main motivation was the language requirement : "willing to learn Dutch." I figured I had that covered.

The boss lady seemed very nice and chilled, but she said her main goal is to make the customer happy (so not what I've experienced in Belgium!). She was kind and did the interview all in English. I am interested to see how the job turns out. I have had many other cleaning jobs, but never with a company like that. We are thankful for the income, but if it doesn't work out I will not feel guilty moving on. Today I am just excited that I actually did it-I got a job in a foreign country!

An Additional Source of Pride is that I had a flute lesson in Dutch today :) but the other side of that is my source of shame...everything my teacher told me I already know. I have picked up some bad habits over the years of not having lessons. I hope they will go away soon; I felt pretty embarrased to be told how to stand and hold my flute, but I knew it was so true.

My next post I will try to add some pictures for color!
