I am not a good Belgian-Restaurants

How have I missed this topic? It might not even be only over Belgium, but going out in all the surrounding countries as well.

~First, don't expect great service, because waiters are not tipped!
~Free refill? "Take a hike!" (unless you are at Ikea)
~"Bottomless fries? What is that?"
~"Um, that ketchup will cost you 50 cents, same with the mayonaise..."
~"Would you like the water with bubbles/gas/sparkling?" (no such thing as tap water unless you are taking medication)
~Go with the mentality, "Quality, not quantity"-unless you are in Poland :)

  1. Haha....I think I prefer American restaurants. In general, I like American restaurants better than Canadian ones, mostly having to do with the service. American restaurants have better service and are much faster!

  2. oh my! I wouldn't like the no refills, especially not having water!
When my sisters went to Scotland I remember them saying something about paying for ketchup (I think)

  3. I certainly prefer North American resturants over European ones. Although European ones do have more character and charm. I can't say I notice a difference in Canadian vs American accept that I hated that it took the US so long to instate no smoking laws. After CDN resturants were non smoking for so long it was terrible to have to sit in smoke. No longer of course, luckly!

  4. I like the idea of refills, etc., especially with kids...1 drink is good for all! :D..never been to Europe, but would like to try their restaurants.

People are probably generally slimmer there, since the food isn't just piled on, like here! :P
I think I'd prefer Quality over Quantity though!

  5. These posts are some of my favorite on your blog. Nice to understand the differences you are experiencing.

Stephanie, sharing drinks? Not sure that's the idea behind refills, but they make money anyway...
