Anyone who has visited Europe knows you need to carry a load of change around if you want to go potty. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooo annoying! The price varies from 10 cents up to 1.50 *only in Venice*. This is very hard for me to get used to. I have learned that you should always take advantage of the opportunity to go for free...like in a resturaunt, parking garage and some gas stations.
Even public places like the library and mall charge for use of their facilities. Sometimes I would not mind to pay if it was really nice (Like the Lynden Library or Costco), but sometimes it is still dirty or not even working!
There are normally ladies sitting outside the doors to collect money. If they are not looking I try to sneak in...
It seemed to me that Germany has made it so every gas station along the road has the same automized system that costs 50 cents...you put the money in and the door opens. At least with these ones you can see it twist the toilet seat and clean it...but totally not worth the money.
I will give credit to the Austrians...we were in the mountains and needed to go, so our guide just stopped at a little hotel and asked the lady if we could use her toilets and she was so nice and said something like, "Of course!" Bless her heart...
That is certainly one aspect North American's would need to get used to. Your point about the bathrooms not always being nice is an interesting one. I would be happy to pay for a bathroom at times, especially if it improves the bathroom. If you have to pay and it's still dirty, that's makes it twice as bad.
ReplyDeleteJosiah says "come here soon". I thought it was terrible to have to pay for bathrooms too. Especially if you really have to go or are sick and have no change!
ReplyDeleteTerrible injustice. I agree with Josiah, come here soon! :)
