The kermis came to our village in the weekend. Not only to our village, but NEXT DOOR! We remembered this from last year and fled for the weekend. It might surprise some people that I am not a fan, since I adore amusement parks, but this is something else.

Kermis means 'fair' or 'carnival.' It comes 1-2x/year to most villages. It has your typical, scary, wanna-throw-up, don't-look-safe rides, plus
the silly booths where you throw 500 darts to win a giant teddy bear.

It seems that most of the population has the exact opposite opinion of this event as me. Most people wait all year for it, then is it the 'event' to be at. We live on the main street of the village and it was closed off for most of the time, so people could freely walk about. I never knew so many people lived in the area!

Here the schools even are closed or have a half day on the last day. I DID participate by going to get me some olliebollen. I love that stuff, but it is actually Dutch, not Belgian :P I got to know it in my former home town. They always had it at the fair or even at the bakery I think.

Pretty pictures! I'm not a big fair fan...mmmm but the food I'm kinda a fan of! haha
ReplyDeleteI like the fair! But not as much as I used to. It's kinda creepy now and lots of weird stuff. I like the food though.
