New Car

Since hubby started his 'new' job (nearly 2 years ago) we were supposed to be getting a new (company) car. We were very happy with our Golf, so we did not push for anything else. Last year we were looking into a Tiguan, but it was a little over budget, so we left it until we had the baby and tried fitting the stroller in the car. At that point we decided it was necessary to get something bigger.

Hubby figured with his work what was in the budget and ordered our car. We even had an appointment to pick it up sometime in October, but received an email that it was sold! *to clarify some* Here it is very normal for companies to include a car and fuel card into a salary package. It is better to give that, than cash for tax purposes. There is an allotted amount per month for a lease. With some companies (like the current one) you can pick out the car and what options you want and you get it directly from the factory on lease.

So 'our' car was reordered and we picked it up a few days before we went to America. We are very happy with it. It is funny, because the opinion on cars here is different than in the USA. I personally think a lot of cars that are 'cool' here are ugly, but whatever. I never really cared for what cars looked like. So we have a VW Passat Station Wagon WITH a huge truck (no more struggling with the stroller), leather seats, heated seats, cruise control, built in GPS, and something I had never experience before-start/stop system. I really like it actually. It takes a little getting used to, but now I like it and feel like I'm saving the earth :P Here is a picture of it. (I think, like I said, I am not that into cars)

  1. Very nice! Funny how when you have a child, even decisions like new cars revolve around the child. Like can I fit a stroller in this trunk! lol

  2. We bought a new vehicle when we had our first as well and have been very happy with it. Congrats on your Passat! I'm not a big car person either but I really like the Passats! I'm sure you will enjoy it!
