Salzburg

Like Venice, we headed to Salzburg with no plan for the day...it was supposed to be a 2 hour drive, but we encounted traffic, so we arrived at lunch time. We brought our own food, so the first thing we did was eat. After we chose to do a hop-on-hop-off tour of the city. It was kind of a rip-off, but whatever...you could get on/off and certain destinations, but the catch was that there only was 1 bus/hour, so you either had too much or too little time at the places. Once we were done, we realized we could have started in a different location and paid about half the price. We saw lots of advertisement for the Sound of Music tour, but we saw most of the sites from our bus. The downtown of the city was nice, but the outskirts wasn't my thing...

Above you see a photo of the Sacher tort place...I would have loved to try some, but for some reason I think they were closed...plus the prices were insane.

Here we are in front of the gazebo used in Sound of Music :)
I found the houses along the river to be beautiful!

Mom and I at a nunnery (I think)
Mr. Mozart...He and Sound of Music claim the fame in this city :) We visited his birth house, but not where he lived. Everywhere we went they were selling Mozart Balls . Personally I like them, but you have to like marzipan...

My option of the city is that it was kind of bland, but I think I was having a bit of an off day, because I was dying of heat, my feet hurt and I was having a rash on my hands. What I LOVED was my ice cream...it was from some special berries and I just might travel back to have another cone.

  1. Aww...I really liked Salzburg when I was there. I stayed for a few days so that probably makes a difference. And the weather was perfect. It was lovely. I didn't do the Sound of Music stuff, though. Apparently only people from Salzburg and the US know what that is haha. Mozart Balls are yummy!!
