Last Rant of the Day

Tijdskrediet

There is a nice system here (something good about Belgium!)where you can take up to 5 years of 'sabbatical leave.' Of course there are certain requirements, but if you get it approved, you are paid a bit each month. Of course it is not your full wages, but "every little bit helps."

I was wondering if I qualified for this and we have emailed several times and got no response. One of the most frustrating things for me! Why have an email address if you are not going to reply?!?!

Finally we gave up on the internet option and my hubby called. Naturally the people seemed dumb and were not very helpful, but they were able to explain a bit more.

It doesn't seem that I have enough hours to qualify for this :(, but I will ask again. It is not a disaster if I can not take it now, because I can always take it later if I work enough. I think it was 500 hours in 6 months, so that is working part time. Normally I would have had that, but I was gone all of December and then I chose to work fewer hours during the pregnancy.

People are asking if I will work after the baby, but my answer is, "I don't know." I do not really want to, but I am willing to work part-time if I need to and we can find a good babysitting option. I was thinking of working just those 6 months for part-time to be able to get 5 years of pay. Like I said, I can do it anytime, so maybe even in 15 years when the 'baby' is in high school?
