Color Blocking

I have been out shopping every day this week. I have noticed a trend my friend blogged about. I'm glad she posted about it, so I am in the loop. I haven't decided what I think about it. Color blocking. It has to do with pairing traditionally non-matching colors, based on the color wheel. Some combos I like (such as blue and red or blue and yellow), but others get me (pink and red). In the photo above I think most are horrible, but the one in the middle I really like. Maybe because it reminds me of the American flag?

My friend pointed out that no one wears it. So who is the marketing for? Maybe it will become more popular in 2012?

Anyone know if there is a link-up for this out in cyber world? I am interested in trying it. A lot of sites I read and a few clips I watched talking about it being something you have to be brave to try. Am I brave? I don't know. I certainly do not dress to follow the latest and greatest, but I DO like to try new things. I don't want to get stuck in a rut of always wearing the same things and colors. I admire people who wear 'different' things. Not weird, but something out of the ordinary.

I think when I sort my closet I may have to try out a few outfits. Maybe even brave the family (and hubby). I'll post my results.

  1. I think those pics r hideous but the idea is interesting. I think its the style of those clothes that are so ugly. Reminds me of a mix of the 70s & 80s. But I often mix colors that people say don't really match so I don't know. I'd have to see more of it to decide.

  2. I am starting to see more of it here is Aus. But I can say I still don't care for the look of it to much since the ones that wear it go way over board to where it just looks bad. I don't mind a simple mix, I wear a lot of things with yellow, but more then 2 main colors and I don't like it.
