Kinderkamp

The kids' camp was great fun. I helped out with the 3-6 year olds, so I actually spoke some Dutch. I was happy with the amount I could understand. It was the 3rd service when it clicked, "I'm sitting here with no translator!" Of course, it's kid's language, so it is simple, but still. I also learned some new kids' songs, most of course which are Dutch. They were really in my head the first few days after we were back. Here are a few links in case you are interested. I think they are songs you probably know...I also will post the Facebook link for photos, but most of my readers are my Facebook friends, so you may have already seen them.

Kinderkamp 2009

This Thursday I will be headed to my first kids' camp in Belgium. I'm looking forward, but a little nervous, as I'm not fluent with the language. But, actually, I am getting quite used to not understanding what's going on...sometimes I feel like I'm in my own little world. But I am excited to spend time with the kids, family, Simeon, etc... The camp will run until Sunday afternoon. Simeon and I with both be leaders/helpers. I have been helping with some of the administration, so that is nice, because it is something familiar to me! Today I helped make booklets that I think the kids will enjoy. The problem with a lot of available Christian/Biblical material is that it is not in Dutch, so it has to be translated. I have gotten good at changing text in Paint-haha. This is an example of what I worked on today:
